Ecclesiastes 9:12 - 12 People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.

December 2

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; Hebrews 1:1-2

Proverbs 4:23 - 23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Philippians 3:20-21 — But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Dear God,
There are so many people around us and all over the world who are brokenhearted. You are a friend to the needy, including me. I pray for hurting people that are reading this prayer that they would receive from you an incredible sense of comfort and healing. Amen.

December 3

And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. John 6:35

Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. 1 Chronicles 16:11

Romans 12:13 - 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

Psalm 27:14 — Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

1 Timothy 1:15 — Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — of whom I am the worst.

This verse written by the Apostle Paul summarizes the Good News: Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and no sinner is beyond his saving power. Jesus didn't come merely to show us how to live a better life or to challenge us to become better people. He came to offer us salvation that leads to eternal life. Have you accepted his offer?

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

Romans 12:13 - 13 When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

Romans 13:8-9 — Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Colossians 3:15 — Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), shares His peace with us. That peace is an inner sense of tranquility, calmness and quiet trust that is not influenced by circumstances. It is like the ocean depths during a raging hurricane: the surface is tumultuous, but at a depth of 100 feet, all is at rest. The only way to have this incomprehensible peace is to let the Prince of Peace govern our lives. When we are under His authority and have our minds aligned with His Word, His peace flows into our hearts and calms our souls.

December 5

Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:7, 9-10

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. 1 Corinthians 15:58

Deuteronomy 4:29 — But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

December 6

I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. John 10:14-15

2 Timothy 3:16 - 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

1 John 2:17 — The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

December 7

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. John 11:25

Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Ephesians 6:13

Isaiah 32:6 - 6 For fools speak foolishness and make evil plans.They practice ungodliness and spread false teachings about the Lord.They deprive the hungry of food and give no water to the thirsty.

Colossians 4:6 — Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

If we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. - 1 Timothy 6:8

Thought: A loaf of bread, a shirt for my back and Christ - - I am rich!

You understand, O Lord, remember me and care for me. - Jeremiah 15:15

Thought: The Lord has walked the walk. He knows and cares.

Personal note: It is amazing that a person will find a verse when he really need to hear it. I have been praying to the Lord to care for me as I deal with making financial amends which is going to put a major strain on my budget.

December 8

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. Hebrews 2:1

2 Samuel 22:47 - 47 "The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May God, the Rock of my salvation, be exalted!"

December 9

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:5,8

You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. Psalm 16:11

John 8:32 - 32 "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

December 10

“The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, Deuteronomy 18:15

So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun. Ecclesiastes 8:15

Psalm 10:17 - 17 "You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,"

Psalm 56:3-4 — When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise — in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

Daniel 12:3 — Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

Many people try to be stars in the world of entertainment, only to find this stardom temporary. God tells us how we can be eternal stars — by being wise and leading many to God's righteousness. If we share our Lord with others, we can be true stars — radiantly beautiful in God's sight.

December 11

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. 1 Timothy 6:8

1 Chronicles 16:34-35 - 34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. 35 Cry out, "Save us, O God of our salvation! Gather and rescue us from among the nations, so we can thank your holy name and rejoice and praise you."

Ephesians 4:1-3 — As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

No one is ever going to be perfect here on earth, so we must accept and love other people in spite of their faults. When we see faults in other people we should be patient and gentle. Is there someone whose actions or personality really annoys you? Rather than dwelling on that person's weaknesses or looking for faults, pray for him or her. Then do even more — spend time together and see if you can learn to like him or her.

2nd Matthew 1:23 quotes Isaiah 7:14 to show a further fulfillment of this prophesy in that a virgin named Mary conceived and bore a son, Immanuel, the Christ.

December 12

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-5

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. Proverbs 17:22

Psalm 9:9 - 9 The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

December 13

And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.’” Matthew 2:4-6

So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can. Ecclesiastes 3:12

Matthew 6:33 - 33 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today"

Proverbs 2:6-10 —

For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair — every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

We gain wisdom through a constant process of growing. First, we must trust and honor God. Second, we must realize that the bible reveals God's wisdom to us. Third, we must make a life-long series of right choices. Fourth, when we make sinful or mistaken choices, we must learn from our errors and recover. People don't develop all aspects of wisdom at once. For example, some people have more insight than discretion; others have more knowledge than common sense. But we can pray for all aspects of wisdom and take the steps to develop them in our lives.
