Healing

We're busy trying to keep our heads above water by working the program steps to the best of our ability for what seems to be of no avail, nothing happening, nothing changing. It feels like we're not going anywhere that we're stuck. Then something does happen, we catch ourselves being silly, it's been awhile since we have had any fun. It feels good, we're not sure where this came from, or if it's okay, it's not even part of any of the steps. Watch out, because our healing has begun, and like our illness it's also progressive, but unlike the illness this won't do us any harm. In fact as we process through healing we will be once again reunited with the fun we were having before being cut down by the illness. As a rule, alcoholics know how to have fun, and this is one of those things about us that we seem never to be able to get rid of, and that's a good thing.
