Newbie - Recovering Alcoholic

Hey all,

I am a recovering alcoholic and I am new to this forum. I am hoping to meet new people and offer some advice and help, and "Pay It Forward". Without a great support system I wouldn't be going on 701 days sober (almost 2 years, yay!). I hope I can help!

I say this prayer first thing in the morning and throughout the day if I start to think about drugs and follow it up by doing something, even something little that I know pleases God. And after practicing for a few days you really get a wonderful deep high of pleasing God and knowing he loves you.

Welcome Ali, thank you for signing in and saying hello. I agree, you can't beat those natural highs of recovery.

Loved the Serenity Prayer, found out I couldn't wear it out and it was about the only thing I could remember in the moment. It worked!

Thank you for the welcome MajestyJo. I really enjoy reading your daily gratitude thread. I try to do the same the first thing when I wake up and the last thing at night. It's really helped in turning a seemingly mundane day into something very powerful.

Thank you for sharing, it is always there if we look for it. By the looks of things I should say, welcome neighbor, have been to a few meetings in your fair city, for CA when I had a boyfriend in that fellowship and I got active in the fellowship and was a member of the women's discussion group. I can identify with "...any mind altering substance!"

If we go within, and get honest with ourselves, it is surprising what we find there.
