When We Are Overwhelmed
 

WHEN WE ARE OVERWHELMED

Being overwhelmed can be a good thing or a bad thing. It depends on what we are overwhelmed about. We all get overwhelmed at times. The secret to beating that feeling of overwhelm is to not worry, get upset and stress. Yes, that’s easy to say but how is it possible? It’s possible when we rely on God. We can choose to be overwhelmed with God rather than the worries of the world. We can long for God, focus on God and be overwhelmed with His mercy, His power, His grace and His love.

Psalm 61:2 “From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we do get overwhelmed with the wrong thoughts and actions in life. We do tend to focus on the problems rather than You. Help us today to remember to be only overwhelmed with You and Your word. Help us to focus on You. Remind us to pray and read Your word so we are thinking only of You and relying on You to help us. Give us opportunities today to share with others how You can help them as well when they are overwhelmed.

When we are overwhelmed, we don’t have to focus on the problem. We can just pray and let God handle things.

When we are overwhelmed, God is ready and able to help.

When we are overwhelmed, we can cry out to God from wherever we are and He will hear us.

When we are overwhelmed, rather than allowing our problems to consume us we can get into God’s word.

When we are overwhelmed, God wants us to seek Him out and trust in Him to help.

Psalm 77:3 “I think of God, and I moan, overwhelmed with longing for his help.” (NLT)

Focus: Overwhelm happens. Let’s be sure our overwhelm is in the power of God rather than the problems we are facing.
