Topic of the Week, words beginning with the letter "C"
C is for Control. If you have to control it, it is already out of control.
The only way I can control my life and make it manageable, is to put my day into the Care of my Higher Power. When managed by me, it becomes chaotic and out of control. https://tse2.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.M...=0&w=300&h=300 |
C is for Care. Each morning, I put my day into the care of my God. I know my God cares for me. I needed to learn to care for myself.
In my disease, I was selfish and self-centered, that didn't mean that I took care of myself. I was just out for myself. There is a big difference. It was learning to make healthy choices to better my life. http://media.giphy.com/media/xNKvkqGspCiuk/giphy.gif |
C is for Change
Change your old routines and patterns. Change your attitude from negative to positive. |
C is for Crying. It is okay to cry. It is healing and a good way of letting go. I had to give myself permission to cry. It didn't make me a whoose (not sure how that is suppose to be spelled), it meant that I was a strong and courages woman.
As the song by Johnny Ray (I think), says "Cry me a river." I cried me a river over you. So many times, when we were usiing, we didn't really grieve things in our life, so a lot of things that happen in today, trigger things from our past. As it says in my post "A Day Can Start Any Time," the morning glory gives us new awareness and awakens our spirit. http://www.allgraphics123.com/ag/01/10549/10549.gif |
C is for Cherish
Cherish your recovery. It is a gift. Cherish your family and friends who support you on your journey. |
C is for Close. As they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I found what I really need is a closer walk with my God and then I won't have to worry about friend or foe.

C is for Choose
You have a choice. To drink or not to drink. Today I choose not to drink. |
C is for Clean. I need to cleanse my body and allow it to detox from all the toxins in my body. It is suggested that you take Vitamin B Compound when you are in early recovery. We need to clean the slate and start anew and be reborn of the Spirit.

C is for Carry. Carry the message to the still sufferning alcoholic/addict. They don't need to be newcomers to be hurting. As the 5th Tradition says, "It is our primary purpose..." and it gave me a reason for being and helped me with my self-esteem and self-worth by helping others.

C is for Credit. Credit yourself by giving yourself affirmations. Credit your God for helping you along the way. Through Him, all things are possible.

C is for Cry. Tear are healing. I had to give myself permission to cry. My ex-husband told me to quit crying when I was 21. He told me I was using them as a weapon, so I did. It took a while in recovery before I was able to let them go, it has been a process. Quite often, I will be sitting here posting and the tears will fall from my eyes. I look at them as all those unshed tears that I held and couldn't let go of.

C is for Courage
As the Serenity Prayer says: God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. |
C is for Clown. There is a C & W song, Kathie's Clown by Reba McIntyre. That was me, I tried to make a joke of things, laughing to cover up the pain. It was my way of coping. Laughing it off and not dealing with it, is not a recovery tool. Trying to minimize something by making believe it isn't a big deal, just adds to the hurt. What is traumatic to us is traumatic, and just because our pain seems less than someone else's doesn't mean it doesn't matter. Time is a great healer. It doesn't happen over night.

C is for Cherish. Cherish your family. Not everyone gets to be a part of their family's life as a result of their addiction.
Cherish yourself. Without your sobriety, you have nothing. The program gives us hope for a better tomorrow. The 12 AA Promises are what gave me hope. I brought the body and the mind followed. I was so glad when it caught up. http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...kt/Godsign.jpg |
C is for Change. This is a program of change. We need to change old habits, patterns, and behaviors. When I asked my spiritual adviser what I needed to change, I was told 'everything.'

C is for Courage. It take courage to walk through the past. It takes courage to live in today. God brought to it, He will see us through it. I have to remember to take my God with me and not leave Him at home.

C is for Choice. I have freedom of choice. The good thing is, if I don't like my choice, I can choose again. If I go with my choice, I am responsible for the repercussions.

C is for Clarity. Each day I try to remember to ask for clarity of thought. My brain isn't always clear, so sometimes I forget. What a difference a day makes, when you turn your thoughts, actions, and speech over to your Higher Power.

C is for Choose
Choose recovery Choose positive thinking |
C is for Chip. AA gives out chips. In NA they give key tags. They are markers of clean times from 1 day, 1 month or 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 1 year, 18 months, or 2 + years of recovery. The most important one is the desire chip. Just for today, I choose not to use. On the White Key tag for the newcomer, spells JusT foR todaY, the last letter of the words spell TRY, that is all you are asked to do, stay clean and sober just for today. Chip away at those defects of character, one day at a time.

C is for Come. Keep coming so you don't have to come back. Keep coming to meetings. Keep coming to support other friends and family. Keep coming to places where you can obtain spiritual food. Remember that your disease is mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical.
