Talk about God—Not the Devil

Talk about God—Not the Devil

Leave no [such] room or foothold for the devil [give no opportunity to him].
—Ephesians 4:27

God once said to me, “Quit talking so much about the devil, what he is saying, and what he is doing. I am saying something! Talk about what I am saying. I am doing something! Talk about what I am doing.”

Then one day God spoke a life-changing word to me, saying, “Why don’t you study the Word, and see how Jesus waged spiritual warfare?”

I found that Jesus didn’t talk or preach much about the devil and what he was saying or doing. He simply dealt with the devil by casting him out of people’s lives. He told him to shut up. He quoted the Word to him (See Luke 4:1–13). Resist the devil today and tell someone about the good things God is doing for you.

From the book Starting Your Day Right by Joyce Meyer.

Reminds me of the words said to me when I was growing up, `The Devil makes work for idle hands.`

When the darkness is there, acknowledge it and ask for the Light to fill it`s space. I often pray for the White Light of Love and the Spirit of the Universe to surround me and the energies around me, so that all may be blessed.

Sometimes, it’s easy to get wrapped up in taking care of the people around us. You may find that you’re always giving, taking care of the children, working overtime at the office, or helping that friend who is struggling. And that’s all good. But if you’re not careful, you can end up feeling rundown. That’s why you have to take time every day to get filled back up. Your first priority should be taking care of yourself and making time to get into the presence of Jesus.

Thank you for sharing Alice. I was a big caregiver and can identify. It always seemed easier to help others because I had the feeling I wasn't worthy. Old tapes can be killers. They kept me sick for a long time. I didn't know I was looking at them so I didn't have to look at myself. Care taking can be a dis-ease and an addiction, in and of itself. Anything that takes us out of ourselves and looking for some person, place or thing, becomes the God of our life and shuts off from the sunlight of the spirit.

Welcome to the site, hope you will continue to share with us.
