Misery Is Optional
 

Before recovery none of us had any say in what was going on in our own life. The problem we all have is in control and it runs our life into the ground. The longer this goes on the more we suffer from this without being able to do anything about it that could stop this from happening. We were all out of control and our problem was in control. Welcome to recovery this is where it begins for us all and we learn from being in recovery that from now on misery is optional for all of us, and that there is always some way we can find to deal with life and all the misery it can bring to any of us through the step of recovery that will relieve this misery that we might getting in any and all situations. For most of us this seems to good to be true because we have been so miserable for so long we think there's no way this could happen in my life, but it does in anyone life who practices the steps of recovery because found in them are the principles that allow for all of us to be at peace with ourselves, regardless of what's going on in our life. None of us have to be miserable any longer unless we choose to be now that we're in recovery. The choice is ours to make, we either choose to do the steps of recovery or we can go on being miserable it's our choice to make. We're in control of this choice, not the problem that all of us have, it has no say in this choice, only we do. This is the gift that all of us are given by being in recovery. We all now have a choice in what goes on in our life, choose well and you'll be glad you did.
