his was the theme of the AA/Al-Anon conference this past weekend.

The woman who was the opening speaker came from a town that I use to work and use in. That job was a part of my life that took me into very active addiction because I was trying to deal with my alcoholic father, and I had trouble handling my job, and trying to deal with a big house and get enough sleep, and raising my son who was three years old.

It was also a time when I started getting into relationships and looking for someone to make me feel better after a failed 3 year marriage and a one year relationship. I used work, relationships as well as alcohol to cope with life. I didn't know there was such a thing as freedom.

My friend stopped by today, because she is worried about her son who is a self-admitted alcoholic, but in complete denial about being an alcoholic. Sounded very familiar, and he has 4 children and now talking divorce.

He has been around the program to know and it is sad that he is still in his denial and finding excuses to continue to use, instead of finding the freedom of recovery. She talked to my son and he said, "Tell him to go into treatment and I will go with him."

As mothers, we can do nothing but pray.
