Just for Today I will put on…OIL
“…for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him…” Leviticus 21:12 (NKJV)

Today’s Action:
What is this Anointing Oil and how can we put it on us?

Well, the Anointing Oil spoken of in this Old Testament scripture, was a special blend of spices and oil made to consecrate (set apart as holy)the priests.
In Exodus 30:23-38 the Lord told Moses how to make the holy anointing oil and what it was to be specifically used for.
It was only for the tabernacle, ark and the priests, not for the people.

However, in the New Testament, the reference to oil or anointing are for the people in Christ, the believers.

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.”
1 John 2:20 (NIV)

Therefore, we who are in Christ, we who have believed in Him and received Him as our Lord and Savior are anointed with the Holy Spirit and are set apart, holy.
Jesus …has made us kings and priests to His God and Father…Revelation 1:6 NKJV

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (NIV)

Believers, we know the truth, because we have the Spirit within us to teach us.
His anointing reveals the truth of the word and gives us knowledge, understanding and wisdom.
Therefore, we should be devoted to spiritual things.
Our daily lives should reflect the Lord and His word, and we should be a people set apart from the world because we have the oil of gladness within us (Hebrews 1:9)

So, Just for Today, let’s be mindful of what we have received and of the fragrance it imparts.
Let’s put on our oil and rejoice that we are different from the world !
