Not What We Thought

When all of us first got to recovery we were all shocked, this not what we thought it would be about. We all asked what any of this had to do with our problem. The reason it's been so hard for all of us before we got to recovery is we really don't know what our problem is. It begins for all of us in the same manner. We have a very subtle shift in our way of thinking about things, and this leads us to a huge change in what we all had easily come to believe. From this point on what we had always believed is gone, and we've all been on our own and struggling ever since. This all happens in the blink of an eye and some of us may have sensed it was a mistake to do this, that didn't stop any of us from doing it. We went ahead and did it anyways. Once we all have done this we just get sicker and sicker until we can stand ourselves any longer, and the worst part of it all it's very hard to convince any of us that this is what our problem is. We all thought it was something else. Recovery allows for all of us to go back, and to correct that flawed thinking that's causing us all the trouble that we've all been getting since we all did this.
