Default The Cure for Worry

God's Word For Today

The Cure for Worry

Read Luke 12:1 through 13:35

Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear” (Luke 12:22).

People have described worry as “borrowed trouble” or “unbelief in disguise.” One writer stated that worry doesn’t relieve tomorrow, it just empties today of its strength.

Today we have less to worry about than our parents or grandparents did, but we have more worry. We have it easier, but there is more uneasiness. We have less cause for anxiety, but people are more anxious. Billy Graham once said calloused hands were the trademark of the pioneer, but a furrowed brow the mark of modern man.

The logic of this passage is that if God takes care of animals and plants, will He not take care of humans who are created in His image? Of course, He will. So stop worrying and trust God.

Challenge for Today: Look around you and note all the things that evidence God’s care and provisions.

Quicklook: Luke 12: 22–31
