Default Quiet

Quiet

Bible Reading: Isaiah 30:15; 1 Kings 19:11-12.

Sometimes it is very good to still the caterwauling of the TV set, cut off the blaring radio, fold up the fretful newspapers, unhook the insistent ringing telephones, and listen to the quietness.

The Bible says: "In quietness and confidence is my strength." Quietness is a delicate thing. It must be sought for in our hurried, harried world; it must be treasured and protected. God speaks to us in a gentle whisper. Let us quiet ourselves and listen.

Moment of Meditation: Sometimes God speaks to us, not in the mad rush of the wind, or the immensity of the earthquake, or in the blaze of mighty fire, but in a still, small voice that is yet louder than all of these.

A Talk with Jesus: Father, quiet my fretful spirit and let me rest In You.

For further study: Psalms 23:2; Proverbs 17:1; 1 Thessalonians 4:11.
