The gift for me was that I could do a 4th Step and later do another one, when I had healed and had a better perspective and was able to be more honest with myself. Self-honesty did not come easily to me. I was at a NA meeting in a rose garden behind an old church and I share that I had done three 4th Steps. Three young guys looked at me in awe and said, "Gee! You must be almost perfect now!" I have to smile, it is a one day at a time program. A member who became a priest (who has 60+ years in sobriety) said, "Remember this is a one day at a time program. You work the Steps in today." What comes up from my past, that I didn't remember and/or had buried it so deep that it took years to surface, I have to apply Step 4. Step 10 is for daily living and for me, just not at night, but at any time during the day, especially when I reach a rough patch.

Thanks for sharing.
