Default Goodness Is God-ness

Goodness Is God-ness (Colossians 1:17)

Every good thing you see, feel, hear, taste, touch or experience in this world is from God.

Read
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father” (James 1:17). So when we see something good, we’re not just seeing goodness. We’re seeing God’s good heart. We have a tendency to spiritualize certain things (like church, Christian music, etc.) and see them as from God, while we consider other good things (like sports, entertainment, etc.) as being from the world. But God is the source of all good things. Anything good in this world is from our heavenly Father.
Roses are beautiful because God is beautiful. Puppies are fun and playful because God is playful. The waves of the ocean are powerful because God is powerful.

Think
Combine the truth that every good gift is from God with the truths that God is everywhere (see Psalm 139:7–12), that God knows everything (see Hebrews 4:13) and that God holds everything together (see Colossians 1:17). That means that the good things in our lives have been intentionally planted there by the one who knows everything, controls everything and is in everything. Every single good thing that crosses the path of our lives comes from God.
That joke your friend told that totally lifted your spirits right when you needed it—it was provided by God, the Creator of humor and laughter. That song that spoke truth and life to the depths of your soul—it was a gift from God, the Creator of melody and song, of life and truth.

Live
When it comes to good gifts, there are no coincidences. The God who knows all and sees all is behind them all. Not only that, but he’s with you—in you—through his Spirit, to see you laugh and enjoy the good things he’s sending your way. While your days may seem like just regular, average days full of normal ordinariness, they’re actually packed with little gifts from God. This life—even in this fallen world—is an amazing adventure he has written for you.
