ENJOY GOD'S LOVE

Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. Alcoholics Anonymous, page 63

For what it's worth: My alcoholic thinking convinced me God created my difficulties to punish me, and He was not about to remove them. I had to be sober in Alcoholics Anonymous a long time before I came to trust God loved me enough to carry me through any adversity, and even longer before I believed He would use this once worthless drunk to "bear witness" to the joy and peace of His "way of life". Today, I accept that my Heavenly Father will shape my life "along the same lines as the life of his Son", and, if I surrender to His will, He will see to it I relax, not struggle, and enjoy the rewards of His love.
