P is for Purpose. When I came into recovery, my thoughts were stop the world, I want to get off. Once I walked through the doors of recovery, I was given a new purpose and a new reason for living. The 3rd and 5th Traditions. The only requirements for membership is a desire to quit drinking. I tried my way and it didn't work. I could stop, but I couldn't stay stopped.
Our primary purpose is to carry the message to the alcoholic/addict who still suffers.
I was given so much, I had to pass it on to others. I received hope and I was granted promises that came true. I saw people doing things that I hadn't been able to do for myself. I wanted what they had.
