Icon21 Good Friday

Like Noah in The Flood
Of sinful men, the worst I am,
As I kneel before the cross.
And while I'm there, I hear the Lamb,
Bearing sin, in wrath engrossed.

Come into me, I heard him plea,
Like Noah in the flood!
Oh hide yourself and be set free,
From God's great wrath beneath my blood!

I entered there by his own grace,
He quickly shut me in;
Oh how my heart did pound and race,
The moment Jesus took my sin.

For then the wrath of God came down,
All o'er the trembling Lamb;
And safe inside, I laid face down,
As he, my Savior became the d-a-m-n-e-d!

And still, my child, there's more to tell,
I've barely just begun;
For then I felt the gates of hell,
With all its hate against God's Son.

It tore his hands, and feet, and side,
And shook him with its quake;
It tortured Christ, there crucified,
I heard him scream, and cry, and shake!

And as the floods so fiercely poured,
From hell below and God above;
He kept me safe within himself,
Protected by his awesome love!

Like Noah sheltered from the storm,
A storm that beat upon the bow,
Christ kept me safe from all that harm,
In dying as he bent his brow.

The storm has passed, and all is still,
And all my sin has washed away;
My Christ in love, obeyed God's will,
And now he's brought a brand new day!

Christ, God's love and God's great Light,
He died to save the human race;
Oh be with him! Abide with him,
And live by his redeeming grace!

He welcomes you. For He's the Way,
Oh hide yourself within his blood!
He'll take your sins and give new day,
Like Noah in the flood!
