Never realized I qualified at 26 (worried that the boyfriend drank too much and I wouldn't be able to keep up with him), yet thanks to the grace of God, I lived to walk through the doors at 49. Here I am at 71 with 22 years clean and sober.
I came to believe the program would work for me and I didn't want to go back to where I came from, so I stayed. Using was no longer an option, it was live or die, and I chose life! I was angry at the God I thought I knew, and had to go on a spiritual journey and make my God' personal.
