Grateful for another day of sobriety.
Grateful that a day can start any time, I feel like going back to bed, but don't want to miss tennis. Grateful that just because I am in pain, I don't have to abuse my medication. I met a guy in the mall the other day. He said, "Jo I am like you, in chronic pain 24/7." He then proceeded to tell me the narcotics he was and proceeded to tell me how he was generally high in the sky. He made me very grateful that I haven't gone there. The body manufactures the pain to say you need more. I want to live my life, be aware and live in the moment. I can't do that, because drugs and alcohol take my life away. Grateful that I seem to have a virus and the flu on top of the arthritic pain, just means a closer walk with my God. Grateful that just for today, I choose not to use. Grateful to all of you who share this journey with me.
