Default We Are NOT Saints

The second problem that we all face when we are new right after admitting we couldn't do this on our own any longer, was to find something else that can do this for us. This can be a turning point for all of us when it comes to us joining recovery but it doesn't have to be. First thing that we'll notice about recovery is that everybody is allowed to have their understanding of what it is they think is helping them. And that they don't even have to define what that is in order for this to work for them. What a relief it is for all of us to know that we're not going to have become saints to be in recovery, or that we'll even have to turn into some kind of religious freak like all of us were afraid of. The only reason that any of this is even part of recovery is because of that fact that none of us can solve our problem by ourselves. We need something else to do that for us, and for us to believe that this can do for us what we can't do for ourselves, and after when we do this we're on our way, and that this never fails to work for us in solving our problem every time. That's how this works. It's not us but something else that solves our problem for us. Believe in what you want to believe in, just be sure that you don't believe you can solve this problem, because you can't. We wouldn't even be considering such a thing as recovery if we could. No one in recovery can and that's okay now, because recovery has shown each of us how we can find something else that can, and all we have to do is believe that it can.
