Put your skills to work

Life is demanding and you have succeeded in meeting all those demands. You have persisted through every challenge and you can do it again.

In fact, you’ve become skilled at working your way forward. Today is another great opportunity to put your skills to work.

Over and over again, you have proven you can make a difference. Think of how you can apply that ability to make this a richer, more fulfilling and enjoyable day.

Take a deep breath, feel your strength, your competence, and your desire to bring new beauty to life. Remind yourself of how thankful you are for the progress you’ve been able to create.

Then turn toward the world, turn toward the possibilities, and create some more good substance. Seize upon the chances to put your skills to work in meaningful ways.

Make good things happen today. Because that is what you do.

— Ralph Marston

Intention empowers

Intention empowers your life. Intention activates your passion, energizes your efforts, and pushes you past your fears.

For intention to do all these things, it must be authentic. When it is authentic, intention carries the power to achieve anything.

To put that power into what you do, acknowledge and embrace who you truly are. There are specific things you really want to do with life, so give yourself the intention to do them.

Point yourself in a direction you have chosen, a direction you care about. Set your path based not on the superficial fashions of the moment, but on the spirit living deep inside you.

Feel that spirit, and the positive values connected to it, and you feel your power. Resolve to give new beauty, excellence and substance to life, and you will suddenly find yourself doing it.

Empower your day, your year, your life with authentic intention. Live the way you are meant to live, and do all you are meant to do.

Empathy

You have your own perspective, and it is well-informed and valuable. Yet you do not know it all, and it’s a good idea to avoid the assumption that you do.

Other people may often frustrate and annoy you, and you may wonder how they could be so ignorant, immature, misinformed or whatever. But you only see a very small part of their perspective, and cannot possibly know everything that goes into their decisions.

Being overly judgmental rarely does anyone any good. Look for opportunities to replace judgment with empathy.

By all means, live and act with excellence, and expect excellence from others. When others fail to live up to your expectations, find ways to offer help rather than to cause hurt.

Seek to understand, and to encourage genuine understanding in others. Let go of the need to lecture and to rant, so you can spend more of your precious life in a positive state.

Make connections instead of judgments. And make the best of every situation and of every person you encounter.

Embrace the inconvenience

Life doesn’t happen only after you neatly tidy everything up. Life happens all the time, in the moment that is now.

You can’t just put off your enjoyment, put off your actions, and put off living your values until conditions are ideal. Now is the time to enjoy, to get work done, and to give focus and substance to those things that matter most.

So what if it’s not perfect, or if it’s complicated, confusing or inconvenient? This is your opportunity to live and to make progress, so take full advantage of it.

You won’t ever get all the questions answered and all the loose ends tied up. However, there is much you can accomplish when you decide to go ahead no matter what.

If something is inconvenient, then embrace the inconvenience and resolve to make good come out of it. Be okay with things not being perfect and you’ll be able to get much more done.

Under any circumstance, at any time, is a time that you can use to make the world better. Take life as it comes, and give it your best.

— Ralph Marston

Allow peace inside

Being active and ambitious does not have to mean being frenzied and stressed. In fact, being at peace on the inside can make you much more effective on the outside.

Do what you do without fighting against it. Give your presence and full attention to what you’re doing while keeping your spirit in a place of peace and acceptance.

Choose your actions by being fully involved in and informed by the world around you. Choose your attitude by being ever thankful for your opportunity to experience it all.

Life is constantly placing demands on you. You can choose to feel peacefully empowered by those demands and by the positive possibilities for progress that come with them.

Don’t make an unnecessary burden for yourself. Instead of creating stress inside, allow peace to fill your spirit.

Equip yourself in the most effective way to deal with whatever may come. Allow peace, deep inside, and act always from a place of peaceful power.

— Ralph Marston

Unrealized potential

You have vast amounts of unrealized potential. Now is your time to transform the good things that could be into the good things that are.

There is great abundance in this universe. Today is a fresh new opportunity to harvest and express that abundance in specific, meaningful ways that will enrich all of life.

Yes, it can be done and you can be the person who does it. Yes, it will take significant effort and you are able to make that effort.

You’ve already proven how capable you are by navigating your way through life’s many and varied challenges up to this point. Now, seek to take on new challenges and to create new value.

Whatever you have already achieved, you owe yourself the splendid, satisfying experience of working to achieve even more. Your unrealized potential has been waiting long enough, so jump forward and bring it to life.

Throw away all the excuses, step beyond your doubts and hesitations, and go for it. Feel the great treasure that’s already so very close, and make it real.

Richness in every moment

You don’t have to live extravagantly to live richly. You can find extraordinary richness and fulfillment even in the simple, ordinary things.

You don’t have to wait or hope for some big, impressive windfall before you can begin to fully enjoy life. You can experience immense enjoyment right where you are, with whatever you have.

Living a life that’s full and rich is more about your inner attitude than your outer situation. Richness is found not so much in what comes to you but rather in what you make of it all in each moment.

Don’t limit your experience and enjoyment of life’s richness by limiting your ideas of what it should be. Open yourself to discover and delight in the richness that’s in every moment.

There is so very much available to you right here, right now. Go ahead, let go of the need for this or for that, and live the richness that is always yours to live.

Let the experience of great richness come from your choice to live it. Your life is now, so fully and richly enjoy it here and now.

— Ralph Marston

Live your love

Today, live your love. Live your passion, live your curiosity, and live your dreams.

In this moment, live your values. With each person you meet, live your compassion, your respect, your authenticity.

Don't just think about, or wish for, or admire whatever is most meaningful to you. In every moment, in every action, in every word and thought, live it.

Spend your time really, truly enjoying whatever you enjoy. Go beyond the mere appearance of richness and fulfillment, and live your richness, live your fulfillment.

Stop doing things just to say you've done them. Do whatever you do because there is something deep inside that implores you to do it.

Life is yours to live right now. Be true, be you, and be filled with the unique joy that is yours to experience.

Keep yourself accomplishing

Keep yourself active, and make all that activity count for something. Keep yourself active, and keep yourself accomplishing.

Before you devote your valuable time to anything, consider what it will actually accomplish. Invest your time in purposeful, meaningful activities, not in empty busyness.

It’s great to stay busy. It’s much more advantageous, though, to have something to actually show for being so busy.

A moment wasted can never be regained. A moment spent in meaningful accomplishment, however, can extend its value indefinitely.

You have more than enough time to achieve whatever you choose, if only you will respect and make full use of the value of that time. Step back, look at what you’re doing with your time, and remind yourself it is among your most valuable assets.

With the time available to you, keep yourself accomplishing. Let go of the meaningless, wasteful pursuits, and exchange your time for the rich, wonderful life you deserve.

— Ralph Marston

Choose to do it

You can do it if you choose to do it. So choose now to do it.

Set a goal and make it happen. Keep going until you have it done.

The way forward may involve some complexity and a good deal of effort, yet at its heart it is not complicated. Boiled down to its pure essence, success is just a matter of choosing to make it happen, and then using the best of what you have to get there.

The days ahead will surely pass no matter what you decide to do with them. Decide to make good use of them, to show yourself and all the world how good life can be.

Step decisively away from the excuses, past the doubts and beyond your hesitation. Step into a satisfying sense of momentum and achievement.

Choose to actually do what you really wish to do. And choose to take great delight in all that’s necessary to make it happen.

— Ralph Marston

Ruffle some feathers

If you’re not ruffling a few feathers, you’re probably not getting much done. If you’re not running into difficult problems, then you’re falling far short of your potential.

You are superbly equipped to meet great challenges and to create great achievements. If you’re just maintaining the status quo, there’s a whole lot more valuable stuff you could be doing.

What you did yesterday was fine for yesterday. However, today is a new day, filled with new possibilities, so get busy exploring those possibilities.

Make yourself a little bit uncomfortable by reaching a little beyond what you’re sure you can do. Challenge yourself in a meaningful way, and you will quickly grow to meet those challenges.

Ruffle a few feathers, including your own. Explore the vast territory that lies beyond your comfort zone, and discover value you never knew existed.

This is a new day, so live it as a new day. This is your opportunity to add something to your life and your world that’s never been there before, so take that opportunity and run with it, now.

— Ralph Marston

Keep yourself in action

When you seek to do something ambitious, there will be a certain number of unsuccessful attempts you make before finally getting it right. Go ahead and get those unsuccessful attempts out of the way as quickly as you can.

When the initial effort fails to yield the desired result, there’s no reason to get upset about it. Because it means you’re one attempt closer to the one that does get the result you want.

Though it seems natural to feel discouraged when you fall short of the mark, you’re actually moving yourself closer to the goal with every action. Keep going, keep learning, and you will soon get it right.

When you keep yourself in action, good things are sure to come of it. When you keep yourself in action, you’ll find your way to whatever you seek.

Make another phone call, write another paragraph, walk another mile, read another book, paint another picture, sing another song, and work another hour. Yes you can do it, and when you keep doing it, you work your way to spectacular results.

Don’t give up just when you’re a few attempts short of the achievement. Keep yourself in action, and make some great things happen.

— Ralph Marston

What you can do

What you can do is to do your best. Honestly, authentically, with no excuses or cutting corners, just go ahead and do your best.

Some people might appreciate it, and many others probably will not. What really matters, though, is not what others think or say, but the fact that you’ve given your very best to the effort.

So don’t hold yourself back out of fear or anxiety about the way you’ll be received. Push yourself forward, true to your highest ideals, focused on your dreams, your values, your passions.

What you can do is to do your best, and it can be spectacular. What you can do is contribute to life in your own special way.

Courage comes from realizing how profoundly blessed you are to be able to make a difference. Feel your good fortune, feel your courage, and put it into action.

Today, experience how right it is to do what you can do. Give your best to every situation, to every opportunity, to every hour of this day, and reap the rewards of a day well spent.

— Ralph Marston
