The tongue has the power of life and death

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

The tongue has the power of life and death, and so of joy and depression, and so of victory and defeat, and so of cheer and gloom. Even so of a happy marriage and one heading downhill. Tongue has the power.

In the beginning God created the earth and all that is in it just by His mere words. If we are created in His image, don't we have similar power in our words too? We can build or destroy. We can encourage or discourage. We can boast or praise. We can love or hate. All with our words.

How careful we should be then, of using our words! Sure it takes conscious effort to use it for His glory rather than misusing it for our disgrace.

Let us pay keen attention watching our words and take the effort to alter course if it is heading the wrong way.
