Winning Streak
None of us show up at our first recovery meeting on a winning streak. It is only from the tremendous continued beating we encounter from living with the illness of addiction. I just thought I had a lot of bad luck. I didn't know that I was suffering from an illness. Finding this out didn't stop those beatings. I just knew now that it wasn't because of any bad luck. When I learned how to live life from those who knew recovery is when the beatings finally started to stop. But first I had to be sick and tired of being sick and tired.
