To the God I Don't Understand

They told me God as you understand Him.
I had muddied the water, though.
So, I started to ask myself, then...
What do I understand of You?
(my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor my ways your ways)
You know the answer, God; So small
Is my understanding, but enough
Like I am a small child, and You are so tall
So much larger than I.
(in you I live and move and have my being)
They say we found the Great Reality deep inside.
I looked for You, but, do You hide?
Or, maybe, God, perhaps, they lied?
No, I don't think so.
(be still and know that I am God)
Deep within us, there's a yearning,
I believe and I am learning
That You're the answer to my soul's returning...
Even, God, if I don't understand.
(for I am convinced that nothing can separate me
from Your love) Heaven is near me, every day.
You're there, beside me, all the way.
You keep me safe. Keep me sober, I pray.
Just for today. Thank You, God.
(search me, o, God, and know my mind...try me,

I Have Learned

I have learned to trust You, God.
Even if I don't know You, You know me.
And, even if I appear odd
To folks, I keep on trusting You.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Good Morning, God...

I realize that today I am still powerless.
My life is still unmanageable, but You
Can restore me to sanity, God, so, please
Take my will and my life, too.
Forgive me for the wrongs I've done,
And help me make it right.
And, help me, God, throughout the day.

You Showed Me

You showed me that I never had to be alone.
You showed me the path that you took.
You showed me you cared about me.
And you showed me a big, blue book.
You helped me when I was hurting.
You guided me on my way.
You showed me the path you'd taken.
You helped turn my night to day.
